Gator Student-Athlete Launch Weekend


This weekend’s University of Florida Summer Ceremonies include more than 30 Gator student-athletes.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida Athletic Association is celebrating the accomplishments of 32 Gator student-athletes who will make it through the debut stages this weekend. In addition, one receives a graduate certificate.


The Summer Opening Ceremonies begin Friday August 5th and continue through Saturday August 6th.

Three were on NCAA title teams during their careers:
2022 NCAA Men’s Outdoor Athletics – Dedrick Vanover
2022 NCAA Women’s Indoor Athletics:- Taylor Manson
2022 NCAA Women’s Outdoor Athletics: Manson and Caitlan Tate

One has won individual NCAA titles:

  • Will Davis – 2022 NCAA 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays

More notable Summer Gator Grad:

  • Taylor Manson won Olympic Bronze in 2020 as part of the USA 4×400 Mixed Relay Team
  • Eight All-America honors earned – Kirschtine Balbuena (swimming), Alyssa Baumann (gymnastic), Lea Braswell (swimming), Lea Clapet (gymnastic), Will Davis (swimming), Taylor Manson (racetrack), Caitlan Tate (racetrack), Dedrick Vanover (racetrack)
  • Clifford Lett – captain of Florida’s first SEC championship basketball team in 1989 – gets his bachelor’s degree on Saturday
  • Lea Clapet was a 2021 and 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-America At-Large selection. She was the 2021 Southeastern Conference Gymnastics Scholar of the Year.
  • Five graduates with honors.

  • Seven are receiving a master’s or doctorate this weekend –Alyssa Baumann (gymnastic), Lea Clapet (gymnastic), Jazmyn Foberg (gymnastic), Leigh’s Lingo (the Crosse), Taylor Manson (racetrack), Mattias Simar (tennis), Asia Smith (racetrack). In addition, Caitlan Tate receives a graduate certificate.
  • Ten are competing for the Gators in the upcoming 2022-23 season: Zippy Broughton (basketball), Lea Clapet (gymnastic), Brenton Cox Jr. (Soccer), Paisley Eagan (the Crosse), Cameron Room (soccer), Myreon Jones (basketball), Jenny Kim (Golf), Vicioso Angel (racetrack), Trent Whittemore (Soccer), Dante Zanders (Soccer)
