Genie Bouchard to headline Champions Series tennis at the Greenbrier


Genie Bouchard, Jack Sock, Leylah Fernandez, and Sam Querrey make up the four-man squad during the 2022 Greenbrier Champions Classic Tennis at Center Court at Creekside Stadium on Sept. 24 in White Sulfur Springs, West Virginia.

A women’s singles match, a men’s singles match and a mixed doubles match make up the action of this unique and intimate event, organized by Champions Series Tennis.

The action begins with the men’s singles at 2 p.m., pitting Sock against Querrey. The two have only met once before, with Sock taking the lead in Houston in 2015. This exciting men’s match will be followed by a women’s showcase, with Fernandez and Bouchard facing off around 3 p.m. The final match of the day, scheduled for around 4 p.m., is a mixed doubles match featuring Bouchard and Querrey teaming up against Fernandez and Sock.

Sock is a 29-year-old American player, who has won four ATP singles titles and 15 doubles titles. He was ranked No. 8 in the world in singles and No. 2 in doubles. He won doubles titles at Wimbledon in 2014 and 2018 and a doubles title at the US Open in 2018. He won a gold medal (mixed doubles) and a bronze medal (doubles) at the Olympic Games in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.

Bouchard is a 28-year-old Canadian player, who was ranked No. 5 in the world in singles, becoming the first Canadian to reach the top 5. She reached the final at Wimbledon in 2014 and reached the semi-finals at The Open de France and at the Australian Open.
