“Have things gotten so hopeless that we have to call ANY Raducanu game notable?”

Emma Raducanu will enter the Korea Open as the sixth seed and will face Japan’s Moyuka Uchijima.

The 19-year-old suffered a massive drop in the rankings after her first round loss at the US Open and dropped out of the top 80. She reached the last 16 of the Slovenia Open the week after the US Open.

After the 2022 Korea Open draw, WTA Insider tweeted about notable first-round matches and included Raducanu’s match against Uchijima as a match to watch.

Several fans were baffled that the Briton’s game against the Japanese was considered notable and gave their thoughts on it.

“What exactly is ‘notable’ about Raducanu-Uchijima? Have things gotten so desperate that we have to call ANY Raducanu game notable?” a fan wrote.

Another fan said Fruhvirtova’s game was more remarkable considering her recent break into the top 100 and her excellent form this season.

“The need to promote future tour stars is understandable, but Raducanu-Uchijima is not a flashy matchup. I find Fruhvirtova-Wickmayer more remarkable, the Czech just entered the top 100 for the 1st time at 17 years old and the German was top-12,” read the fan’s tweet.

Raducanu has had a disappointing 2022 so far, winning just 14 out of 31 games since the start of his season in Sydney. The 19-year-old has reached two quarter-finals at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix and most recently at the Citi Open.

Raducanu recently did a short interview at Incheon Airport, where she said that her best friend is from Korea and that Korean food is her favorite.

“Yeah, first time in Korea, but you know, I’ve heard so much good about it. My best friend is from Korea, she took me to many K-dramas. Korean food is definitely my favorite. Because that my mum grew up in China, there’s a lot of Korean food because it’s pretty close to here, so yeah, I can’t wait to see it for myself,” said the Brit.

Emma Raducanu will be looking to beat Moyuka Uchijima and seal her spot in the second round of the Korea Open. Here she could face Linda Fruhvirtova or Yanina Wickmayer.
