The Hartwell community and many others mourn the loss of the owners of the Cateechee Golf Club in Hartwell, Georgia. Cateechee Golf Club released the “untimely passing of Charly and Kelli Schell” on Saturday. According to their personal Facebook pages, Charly is the owner of Cateechee and Kelli is the general manager. The couple’s cause of death has not been officially released. The full message is below: “It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the untimely passing of Charly and Kelli Schell. The love Charly and Kelli shared for Hartwell and its community inspired the purchase of Cateechee in 2017.” Cateechee provided special memories for many of us, and we will continue the legacy that Charly and Kelli paved; and the business model that embraces the community. We ask that you please keep their families in your thoughts and prayers, as additional information will be uploaded to the Cateechee Facebook page as it becomes available. Kelli Schell’s last Facebook post was on July 10 when the couple were in the mountains of Montana. Hartwell Mayor Brandon Johnson also posted a message on the couple’s death: “The Town of Hartwell sends its deepest condolences to the families of Charly and Kelli. Taylor Schell and the Cateechee family. Their untimely passing leaves in our community a void that cannot be filled. They were great supporters of Hartwell and proved that when they took over the Cateechee Golf Club several years ago. Toughest Kids, Inc. released a message announcing the couple’s passing.

The message read “Toughest Kids was their vision and their dream. Through tireless work and countless hours, Kelli and Charly have created, grown and nurtured Toughest Kids to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. .”
