What you need to know about the season


The Indiana Pacers enter the 2022-23 NBA season with low expectations. They finished 25-57 in 2021-22, losing their last 10 games. They picked No. 6 in the 2022 NBA draft, selecting winger Bennedict Mathurin from Arizona.

Indiana also traded guard Malcolm Brogdon to the Boston Celtics in the offseason for several players, some of whom were released. Their core includes Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield and Chris Duarte in the backcourt, and Myles Turner and Jalen Smith in the frontcourt. Here’s what you need to know about the schedule:


The Pacers get a national television appearance

The Indiana Pacers aren’t one of the best tickets in the NBA. They are also not expected to be a big draw on national television, according to the schedule released Wednesday.

The Pacers will only appear on ESPN once during the regular season — Oct. 28 in Washington (7:30 p.m. ET), in Game 6 of the season. Two games (October 31 in Brooklyn, March 24 in Boston) will be broadcast on NBA TV.
