Wimbledon 2022 odds, picks, predictions: Confirmed tennis expert says Carlos Alcaraz is ready to be upset

Novak Djokovic has a strong chance of closing the gap on the men’s Grand Slam title record when the 2022 Wimbledon men’s singles competition kicks off on Monday. But the man who holds this record with 22 years, Rafael Nadal, is also among the favorites of the All England Club in London. Djokovic has 20 Grand Slam singles victories and is aiming for his fourth consecutive Wimbledon title and seventh overall. Nadal has won it twice, but not since 2010, and 14 of his championships have been on clay at Roland-Garros. Mario Berrettini, who lost to Djokovic in last year’s final in London, is also among the favourites, and two-time WImbledon champion Andy Murray could be a dark horse if he is completely healthy. Carlos Alcaraz, the 19-year-old Spaniard who has won three times this season, could also be there.

Djokovic is the clear -145 favorite (risk $145 to win $100) in the latest Wimbledon 2022 odds for the men’s draw from Caesars Sportsbook. Berrettini is second in the odds at +550, with Nadal priced at +650. Alcaraz is at +800, Hubert Hurkacz and Felix Auger-Aliassime are both at +1400 and Murray is a longer shot at 25-1. Before making any men’s picks or predictions for Wimbledon 2022, you need to see who is backing tennis expert Sean Calvert.

Calvert is the famous handicapper who called Stan Wawrinka winning the 2014 Australian Open 60-1 – the last Australian title won by anyone other than Novak Djokovic or Roger Federer. In 2019, Calvert notched a huge score over Dominic Thiem winning Indian Wells 80-1, among many stunning calls.

Now Calvert has reviewed the latest Wimbledon 2022 odds and released his coveted best bets to win it all. He shares all of his picks and expert analysis on SportsLine.

Best Wimbledon 2022 Men’s Predictions

A surprise: surprisingly, Calvert fades Alcaraz, and even thinks the young Spaniard could return home very early. The 19-year-old has been an eye-opener with his performance this season, going 32-4 on aggregate and winning on clay in Madrid, Barcelona and Rio on the hard courts of Miami. He lost to Nadal in the semi-finals at Indian Wells and to Alexander Zverev in four sets in the quarter-finals at Roland-Garros. But weed is a relatively new experience for him, so he might struggle.

Alcaraz has only played two senior matches on the surface, and he was promptly knocked out of Wimbledon by Daniil Medvedev in the first round last year. He also couldn’t take part in any of the warm-up events due to an elbow injury, so Calvert just doesn’t see the young star having the experience to spend a quarter with Djokovic. The pundit says he wouldn’t be shocked if Alcaraz fell in the first round to Jan-Lennard Struff.

How to make the Wimbledon 2022 men’s picks

Instead, Calvert backs two huge underdogs to reach the final who both come in at 40-1 or more. Both of these players should be able to take advantage of the weakened draw and are capable of causing major upsets. Find out who they are at SportsLine.
